The Bike

Here is the bike after the mock up. This kit from air-tech required quite a bit of cut and fit, but it does look really good. The tail piece came together well, I used the original half turn screws and pop riveted the brackets for them into the under tail, makes it look like factory. The upper cowl wasn't to hard except for mounting the fucking mirrors. The windscreen is looks short because I had to trim off the top part we broke trying to get it on. Drilling the holes for the mirror was sketchy, the stock fair stay even after we heated and repositioned it, still needed some torqing. The electrical back feed we discovered was normal for the bike, its how the turn signal indicator light gets its power. So much for all the advise from the dealer and cycle shops here, thanks for nothing. Since we are running flush mount led's as rear turn signals, we had to stop the backfeed because even the low low voltage from it was enough to light the signals. So we interrupted the system with two diode's wired in at the turn signal indicator bulb mounted behind the headlight and ran a new ground. Worked like a champ. Since the new fairing comes with only only headlight and the stock bike had two, I used the ground from the disused headlight plug. So Now I move to the scaryest part of the hole thing, the test ride. Now that all the parts are on and everything is tight and bright, I want to take it out for a good long ride before paint. Make sure everything is working and cool. I've taken in down the road after the mechanical repair was finished, but not to far. I think Monday will be a good day to give it a shot. If it all works, then I have the joy of taking it all apart again, and prepping and sanding and primering.....blah. You get the idea.

Anyway it's looking lot better than it did three month's ago. I missed all of the fall riding and that suckes ass! Definitely my favorite time, but Winters over and I've got the whole spring to catch up on me saddle time. I'll post more pics of the assembly when I get the time to load them. And don't worry, Painted pic's are comming soon.

I'm sorry... I don't speak Greek. Ha, just kidding. I'm sure it makes total sense to YOU. Which is what matters since you are the one building it. And have fun. And um.. be careful. ~krit
