It has been awhile since I've updated this blogger. I'm sorry about that, but I have been busy.
let's see here, ok. it's the end of jan and I'm in the on-the-job trainnig phase of the new job. I really like the company, swift is the largest trucking company in the u.s. and they take care of their drivers so far as I've seen. I've been out for 12 days now and am enjoying it alot. it does get tiring. but with so many different landscapes to see, that dosent really matter. we have just returned from san berendino, ca and my trainer and I took this weekend off. the nice thing about that is that when he takes off time i can either stay here in s.c. or go home, and the other thing is if i stay, then i still get paid for time off and it still counts as trainning days. we are issued 42 days of training before we become company drivers.
during training I get salary. which is good and bad. good because most of the new students are still afraid of the truck and have trouble adapting to the sleep scheaule. bad because I am not one of those students. it took two days for me to adapt and overcame my fear of the truck at my last job. now dont get me wrong, I have a very healthy respect for the truck and for what could happen if my attention lapses for just one second. but I'm also confident in my knowlage and driving abilities. the first 9 days on the road we logged 5,046 miles. thats a decent week for a team truck. but for a student truck its very good. now if I were getting the standerd team pay, then you take 5,046 multiply by .17(17-cents-per-mile)and you get 857.82 pre-tax. the bad thing about salary is this number is about 3 times more than the first two week pay scheaule, luckily the pay goes up the second two and third two weeks. then i get to test out and get assigned my own truck. thats when the real money for this job comes out.
so currently this is what i'm up to, driving my life away. i have lucked out and got a really good trainer and we seemed to hit it off so far. he invited me back to his place to stay with his family and have dinner durring his time off. i took him up on dinner but declined at staying their house. I know how valuble alone time is.
things are woking well with my training and in gereral. i hope that things are well with all of you. take care

welcome to 2005
Wow, another year just shot by. That's cool. It was a good year. Everything is returning to normal after the holiday's. I just returned to florida after spending my new year in leesville with bryan.Things are going well with him and jill, They are engaged and plan for june 11th. Can't wait for that party.
I have landed a driving job with a better company and am leaving monday afternoon.
luckily they have a terminal in ocala, so the drive there wont be bad.
I'm looking forward to getting back on the road. Even though it can be boring at times, I like staying on the move. There is too much country out there I havent seen yet. I hope this year will be a good one for everyone. I know it will be a good year for me.
